This is a simple and versatile Thai inspired peanut sauce that can be used for a stir fry, noodles, pizza, dipping vegetables, or as a salad dressing.

  • 1/2 cup Peanut Butter (creamy, all natural peanut butter)
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar (see note below)
  • 1/4 cup low sodium tamari or soy sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons toasted sesame oil
  • 2 Tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 Tablespoon minced green onion (white and light green parts)
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh cilantro leaves, chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon lime juice - fresh squeezed is best
  • 1/2 teaspoon sambal oelek chili sauce (substitute gochujang or sriracha)

Special Equipment:

No special equipment is required.

Preparation Method:

Preparing the sauce:

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and whisk until smooth and creamy.

The only difference between seasoned rice vinegar and plain rice vinegar is the addition of sugar and salt as the "seasoning" in seasoned rice vinegar. I prefer to control the sugar and salt additions to my food, so I always use plain rice vinegar.
